E=mc2 is the most famous formula that tells us that human beings have revealed nature’s most extraordinary secret, the link between matter and energy. This knowledge could be the key to a lasting sustainability of our societies. We could even reach planets orbiting distant stars in the future with spacecrafts able to travel fast enough to reduce the distance and length of travel, to the point new worlds become accessible within a human lifetime. However, the man who developed the formula is even more outstanding: Albert Einstein.

Christophe Galfard was born in Paris in 1976, and received his doctorate in Theoretical Physics from Cambridge University, where he worked with Stephen Hawking from 2000 to 2006 studying the so called black hole information paradox. He has authored «Espace», a pyrotechnical performance in 3D on the University which was staged in 2013 at la Défense in Paris in front of over 60,000 people. With The Universe in your hand (Bollati Boringhieri, 2016) he was awarded a prize for the best science book in France. His latest book is How to understand E=mc2 (Bollati Boringhieri).
