Italian Sign Language (ISL-LIS)

ISL- LIS (Italian Sign Language) is a communication system that uses a visual-manual  channel, perfectly intact in deaf people, that can be used by anyone, deaf and hearing. In Italy, comprehensive research has established that ISL-LIS is a real language and that, as such, it is the expression of the culture and traditions of a linguistic minority. It is a sophisticated tool that enablesintegration, identity and culture. The conference will be an opportunity to get to know the language more closely: three deaf speakers, led by Valentina Foa, will offer the public examples of LIS, art, fiction, anecdotes. For a world that is increasingly accessible to everyone.
